DESERT WILLOW

FIRECLIFF COURSE

VOTED #1 FOR THE 3 RD YEAR IN A ROW BY DESERT MAGAZINE AS THE BEST PUBLIC ACESS GOLF COURSE.

Desert Willow Golf Resort has emerged as the favorite place to play in the Palm Springs area for many. In fact, Golf Digest named the Firecliff course on of the “Places to Play.” This tournament tested layout is one of only three courses in California and one of the best 50 in the United States to receive this distinction in terms of conditioning. Firecliff, measuring 7,056 yards, is a true test of skill where golfers must negotiate their way around extensive natural areas, over 100 bunkers, and numerous water features

PGA WEST

JACK NICKLAUS TOURNAMENT

Challenge, beauty and drama permeate every Jack Nicklaus Course, and the masterfully designed Nicklaus Tournament is no exception. It is one of the only courses in the world to feature two island greens. The enormous and undulated double-green of holes 9 & 18 are perfectly viewed from the Stadium Clubhouse. Relax and enjoy your lunch while watching fellow golfers attempt to hit their approach shots over massive bodies of water onto the dance floor.

Once tied with PGA WEST’s Stadium Course for the highest slope rating (150) in all of Southern California, the Nicklaus Tournament continues to play co-host to PGA TOUR Qualifying Finals. Nicknamed by Members as the Nick Tourney, it is both forgiving off the tee and quite demanding around the greens, making for a great day of golf. With nostalgic railroad ties along stretches of sandy beach and gorgeous mountain views, you will want to come back to play this Member favorite time and again.

PGA WEST

TPC STADIUM

Rated as one of the “Top 100 Courses in the World” by GOLF MAGAZINE and 4th toughest course in America in Golf Digest’s “Top 50 Toughest Courses in America (2007),” there may be no greater challenege or excitement in the game of golf than the Stadium at PGA WEST! The world famous Stadium is one of Pete Dye’s finest course creations, delivering multiple adrenaline rushes throughout the round. A “must play” for all golfers, but no the faint of heart. Host to PGA TOUR “Q-School” Finals every other year, PGA TOUR hopefuls must steady their nerves to navigate the island green of hole #17, known as Alcatraz. Imagine yourself as one of them, needing to make par on the menacing water-lined 18th hole to earn the coveted PGA TOUR card!

Named “Stadium” due to Dye’s successful efforts of sculpting spectator seating into the natural terrain along fairways and surrounding the greens, many great moments in golf history have occurred here, including Lee Trevino’s unforgettable hole-in- one on Alcatraz. This aced him the win of a huge carry-over Skin worth $175,000 in the 1987 made-for- TV “Skin’s Game” hosted by PGA WEST from 1986 through 1991. With five sets of tees, the TPC Stadium lures all skill levels and final scores should be measured by laughs and awe-inspiring moments, not by numbers on a scorecard!

GREG NORMAN COURSE

The newest course at PGA WEST and the only Greg Norman-designed golf course in the Coachella Valley is aptly described as being very “challenging but fair.” Sporting only 68 acres of lush manicured turf, 102 white crushed marble bunkers and shark blue water coming into play on 9 holes, this 7,200-yard course offers a truly “Outback” experience that will entice you back time and time again.  Resting in a prehistoric ocean bed 40-feet below sea level and surrounded by an immense crescent of terra cotta mountains, the course teems with purple, white and yellow wildflowers, while the mix of tall and short native grasses produce different shades of green running almost to silver. The grass covers just 60 acres of tight fairways that taper toward the greens with nine ponds blanketing 18 acres. The demands of this target-style course are a challenge for players of all levels.
