The 2nd Annual Palm Springs Golf Championships is the newest national amateur golf tournament on the West Coast.  Hosted one week before a major PGA Tour event the The Desert Classic.  The championships consists of both a Gross Division & Net Divisions.  Here are the Top Ten Reasons why you should put the Palm Springs Golf Championships on your 2020 golfing schedule.

Gross Players Division

Four Divisions

YoungGunz, Men 40+ YoungGalz & Women 40+

The Gross Players Division first round on Monday will be played on the Greg Norman course. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the tournament moves to the Jack Nicklaus and TPC Stadium courses. The courses will be in their finest tournament condition with viewing stands surrounding the key TV holes. Players can walk the course just like the pros since these courses are "cart path only" the week before the tournament. Each player will receive a new Titleist Sunday Bag at registration. Electric carts are available.

Net Players Divisions

YoungGunz, YoungGalz, Senior Mens, Senior Womens

The Net Players Divisions will play Monday and Tuesday on the Dunes and Mountain courses at La Quinta Resort & Club.  The Mountain course at La Quinta Resort & Club is former host site for the annual PGA Tour's Q- School.  The Championship round will take place at the  Firecliff course at Desert Willow; one of the best public courses in the Palm Springs valley.

Whats Included

The Palm Springs Golf Championships is the newest National Amateur Golf Tournament. The Championships introduce six new exciting components.

First, January is Prime Time in Palm Springs – The Championships are being played in the heart of the prime Palm Springs golf season. The daily highs should be between 60 and 75 degrees.

Second, Is a Gross Division - Compete on the same courses & in the same tournament conditions as the PGA Pros in the annual PGA Tours Desert Classic. The Gross Division will consist of three Divisions - YoungGunz >49, Men 50+ & Womens. There will be a 1st Place Champion for each Division.
Both the PGA WEST Nicklaus Tournament and Stadium courses will be set up for and be in their finest tournament conditions. Viewing stands will surround the key TV holes. Competitors can walk the course just like the pros since these courses are cart path only the week before the tournament.

THIRD, is flighted net divisions - The Net Divisions, which consist of the YoungGunz >49, Mens 50 - 59, & Seniors 60+, YoungGalz >49 & Womens 50+
Flights will play the world class La Quinta Resort & Club Dunes & Mountain Course (former host site to the annual PGA Q-School). They will finish their championships on one of the finest classic country club tracks in the Coechella Valley Indian Wells Country Club. Former host site to the Bob Hope Classic.

Fourth, More Than One Champion is Recognized – The name Palm Springs Golf Championships is plural for a reason. Trophies are awarded to each flight’s first, second and third place finishers.

Fifth, Optional Daily & Cash Honey Pots - There are three daily honey pot payouts for each flight’s top 25% finishers. This is possible since the daily payouts are not paid from the entry fee; but rather from the optional $160 per player honey pot.
Each days payout competition is a stand-alone event. **See information section on gambling and amateur status**

Sixth, Lots of Great Par Three Prizes -

Seventh - Is a Tuesday Horse Race –
Tuesday at 2:00, on the Mountain course, join your fellow competitors for a fun afternoon of golf and beverages. The top four teams split the pot. Entry fee is $25.00 per player.

Eighth, compete against other golfers from around the country -

Ninth, the santa rosa ranch 19th hole - Come enjoy the 19th Hole Santa Rosa Ranch Estate. Mondays kick off Horse Race Pairings Party is sure to impress, come enjoy drinks on the spectacular outdoor patio area, meet your Tuesday Horse Race partner and enjoy some college football on the 75” Flat Screen or enjoy the other cool activities around the property.

Monday night horse race pairings party - Come kick off the 2020 event with the annual Horse Race Shootout Pairings Party. Come meet your partner for the Tuesday afternoon Horse Race, enjoy the College Football Playoffs on the 75” flat screen, while sipping on your favorite cocktail or beverage.
Monday night Glow Ball Pool Shootout Event -
Test your short game skills during the pool shootout. Top player with the most balls hit in the water wins!!

  • Afternoon horse race shootout - 2:20pm at the la quinta resort dunes course - this was a huge hit last year. We had over 40 players in the PSGC Annual Horse race shootout.  Teams are paired by low handicap to high handicap then each team plays alternate shot.  Guaranteed two holes, then elimination begins until we have the top 4 teams battling it out for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th place.

Honey Pots

OPTIONAL HONEY POTS

Each competitor can voluntarily elect to participate in his/her flights daily Honey Pots.

The daily Honey pot payouts ARE NOT financed from the entry fee; rather they are paid out of an optional $70 per day contribution to the Honey Pots.

Each flight has its own Honey Pot.  The top 25% of each flight will be paid out each day.  The payouts will vary range depending on the number of players in each Honey Pot. 

We have reviewed this Honey Pot program with the USGA and confirmed these Honey Pot payouts do not result in players playing for “prize money.”

If a player wishes to receive his payout in a VISA gift card notify The Competition Committee at the time of registration prior to the start of the Championships.

Each day’s Honey Pot competition is a stand-alone event for purposes of the cash payouts.  The following are the expected distributions based on three different field sizes:

  • Fun Golf Vacations and PNWGT.COM has a very generous refund program. All but $200 of each person’s deposits is refundable through November 1, 2018. Even then, the $200 can be applied to the 2020 tournament fee.
